The Friends of Lowewood Museum

The 'Friends of Lowewood Museum' was founded in June 1987 as a registered charity (289225). Its objectives are to promote a better understanding and appreciation of our local heritage as well as a sense of local identity.

The 'Friends' arrange a series of lectures throughout the Autumn and Spring. Topics include subjects of both local and general interest. They are open free of charge to members of the 'Friends' and to non-members at a small charge of £1 per person. Occasional off site visits are also arranged.

Members' Display CabinetMembers of the 'Friends' group are also invited to previews of the exhibitions and have free access to the Museum Library. There is also a quarterly newsletter to keep members in touch.

The 'Friends' make grants to the Museum for the purchase and conservation of items. They support its work in the mounting of the exhibitions, the provision of holiday workshops and for school visits. There are also opportunities for voluntary work in the Museum.

If you are interested in joining the 'Friends of Lowewood Museum' then please contact the Museum on 01992 445596.
